Hello all,
The countdown has started, 5 days to the
start of our journey, 3 days to the
end of our work.
Yesterday we spent most of the day organizing our stuff, but there is still a lot to do. This last week in New York will be a real race to get everything done. But the most important event that you should not miss is our farewell party on Wednesday 26th at ArtBar (on 8th Av and 12th Street). We hope to see all our friends there before hitting the road...
Not that you can't ask us, but we have already heard these very same questions so many times that we decided to compile a FAQ, yes, check it out:
Did you win the lottery? / Did you inherit money?
No, but to backpack around the world is much cheaper than you think. At least we hope...
When did you decide to do this trip?
We have been planning and working on this adventure since February 2004.
How many countries are you going to visit?
19 Countries, being in chronological order:
France, Egypt, England, India, Nepal, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, China, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Bolivia, Peru, Brazil and Germany.
For how long are you staying in each place?
It depends on the cost and our interests. In some places we are planning to stay 3 days, like England and Singapore or a month, like Nepal and China. In the other places we will stay in average 2 weeks.
What are you going to take with you?
A backpack with the basics: clothes, first aid kit, some hiking gear. The lighter, the better, since we will be carrying it for the whole trip.
Have you made all the hotel reservation already?
No. We won’t be staying at hotels anyway, but mostly in youth hostels and when it is possible we will camp.
Have you bought the tickets already?
Yes. We bought a 4-zone OneWorldExplorer ticket which includes 20 flights. It has cost us 2941.41 Euros each including airport taxes ($3881.88). The rest will be done via local transportation.
What are you going to do after the trip?
We will stay in Brazil for a few years....
Why are you doing this trip?
Why not? :D
